Digital Spotlight Title from hoopla

Digital content provider hoopla has spotlighted The Girls in the Stilt House – a masterful piece of historical fiction. Expertly crafted and assuredly told, it’s a captivating, moving tale that will sweep you away to the heat, humidity, and stickiness of the 1920s Mississippi swamplands and into the lives of two teenage girls from completely different backgrounds who are bound together forever by the shared experience of violence.

The library has the title in print and it is also instantly available on hoopla as an eBook (384p.) and as a 10-hour audiobook (read by Johanna Parker). To get going with hoopla you only need your library card!

Author Kelly Mustian grew up in Natchez, Mississippi, the southern terminus of the historic Natchez Trace. Her short fiction has won a Blumenthal Writers and Readers Series Award. The Girls in the Stilt House is her debut novel. View an author Q&A by clicking here.

3D Printing in the chbMAKERS’ Corner

Did you know that the chbMAKER’S Corner houses a Lulzbot Mini 2 3D printer? We do! A 3D printer is a machine that creates a physical object based on digital renderings by “printing” layers upon layers with filament. Create designs in TinkerCAD, or download files from Thingiverse, then send those files to us to print! We’ll give you an email when your item is ready for pickup.

Email YA Librarian Darcy Sowers with the 3D model in .stl file format and your desired filament color. Our 3D printer uses PLA filament, an all-natural, non-toxic plastic. Currently available colors: Blue, Purple, Black, Red, Gray, Green, White, Orange, Yellow.

This service is free for all C. H. Booth Library cardholders. Your print may be resized to fit our printer’s dimensions. If your design must be resized, library staff will let you know before printing.

Please note: library staff are unable to assist with the designing of 3D models. The library is not responsible for the quality of your design.
