Electronic Recycling Days

Recycle your old electronics safely and securely! Clean out your home or office while recycling responsibly and protecting your private information.

Acceptable items include: computers, iPads, tablets, routers, video game consoles, computer parts, cell phones, cables, wires, monitors (flat screen only). We cannot accept televisions, large printers, or large monitors.

Electronics to be recycled can be dropped off in the Gathering Room of the library during the following days and times:

  • Friday, February 28 @ 1:00 – 5:00 PM
  • Saturday, March 1 @ 9:30 AM – 5:00 PM
  • Sunday, March 2 @ 12:00 – 5:00 PM
  • Monday, March 3 @ 9:30 AM – 5:00 PM

Electronics cannot be accepted if the library is closed that day due to the weather.

Blind Date With a Book

Go on a blind date with a book this month! How? It’s easy:
 
• Stop by the library and visit our Blind Date display.
• No peeking now, don’t unwrap your new book just yet.
• Check the book out at the circulation desk.
• Read and enjoy.
• Rate the book with the comment slip inside and leave your slip in basket at circulation desk.
• Most importantly, have fun! 

Join the ‘Check Us All Out Challenge’!

Your library card grants you access to all of Connecticut’s libraries. Take the “Check Us All Out” challenge between April 3rd and May 3rd to learn about some of the unique features of your neighboring libraries!

Collect clues in person or on library websites to complete the puzzle and earn a chance to win a special swag prize.

Find a map marker at one of the participating libraries to grab a puzzle. You can also print your own or complete it online!

S.A.D.E Read Aloud

Join us Saturday, April 23rd, from 1:00 pm – 2:00 pm for NHS’s Students Advocating for Diversity & Equity’s Antiracism Read Aloud Initiative! This meeting we’ll read Our Skin: A First Conversation About Race. Stay tuned after the reading for station activities, discussion, and lots of fun!

This program is open to elementary students grades K-4. All participants will receive a copy of Our Skin that they may keep. Copies are available for pickup at the Young Adult desk of the C.H. Booth Library for participants.

Craftastic! – Every Wednesday @ 3:00 pm – 4:30 pm Drop by the chbMAKERS’ Corner after school to get your craft on! Don’t want to craft in the library due to covid? Stop by and grab a kit to take home. There are a limited number of kits available. Kits are first come, first served.

Midweek Game Night! – Every Wednesday @ 5:00 pm – 7:45 pm Calling all tabletop gamers! Are you looking for a place to play? Want to share your love of tabletop with others? Then join us each week for Midweek Game Night! Discover new games, play old favorites, and meet other gaming enthusiasts. Each week we’ll choose a different game to highlight!

SPECIAL EVENT! – Introduction to Babysitting With Amanda Lisk – March 5 @ 10:00 am – 1:00 pm. Babysitters have the responsibility of caring for children and making important decisions while they are in charge. Parents entrust their child with the babysitter, therefore, it is crucial that the sitter knows the basics of child care. In this three hour course, participants will learn interviewing tips, communication skills, ages and stages of young babies and toddlers, safety and first aid tips, and feeding and caring for children, including diaper changing. A simple test will be administered at the completion of the course and certificates of completion will be distributed. This course is open for tweens and teens. Participants should bring a pen and some paper, as well as a snack. Space is limited for this course. Registration is required. Click here to register.

SPECIAL EVENT! – LED Zodiac Art with Ingrid Schaeffer – Saturday, March 12 @ 1:00 pm – 2:15 pm. Everyone has a zodiac sign. What’s yours? What does your sign say about you? Join us as Ingrid Schaeffer teaches us about our signs and the constellations that correspond to them. Then, learn how to make your own 3D LED wall light of your zodiac sign! All the materials needed to make your LED art will be provided. This program is open to tweens and teens. Space is limited. Carm’s Classics Club – Thursday, April 21 @ 6:30 pm – 7:30 pm Join us for the next meeting of Carm’s Classics. This meeting we explore the seedy side of Victorian London with Charles Dickens’ Oliver Twist and Terry Pratchett’s Dodger! Carm’s Classics Club is open to tweens, teens, and adults. All participants will receive a copy of both Oliver Twist and Dodger that they may keep. Copies are available for pickup at the Young Adult desk for participants. This is a hybrid program.
