YA Programs for November

Shelf Love Book Group – Fridays, November 5 and 19 @ 4:00 pm – 4:45 pm | chbMAKERS’ Corner We all love to read, but what happens when the book is over? Who can you share your latest reads with? Does it seem like no one will listen to you talk about all the feels you’ve been left with? We’ll listen! Shelf Love is a group that meets twice a month to discuss books. Which books? Any ones we want! Share titles, discuss ideas, try out new genres, leave reviews… all in an informal club! Fiction, nonfiction, comics, and manga are all welcome. Refreshments will be served. Ages 12 – 18 welcome. Registration is not required.
Young Adult Council Meeting – Sunday, November 7 @ 1:00 pm – 2:00 pm | chbMAKERS’ Corner Need community service hours? Want to get involved in the library? Join the Young Adult Council! YAC is a group of teens in grades 6 – 12 who meet once a month to plan programs, choose books, create displays, and work on projects to help the library. Come join us! Refreshments will be served.
Project LIT Like Fire – Sunday, November 7 @ 2:30 pm – 4:00 pm | chbMAKERS’ Corner Are you in grades 6 – 12? Are you looking for some interesting reads to spark conversation? The join us for this month’s Project LIT Like Fire meeting!! This month’s middle grade read is Hide and Seeker by Daka Hermon and the YA read is Ace of Spaces by Faridah Àbíké-Íyímídé. Refreshments will be served. Stay after the discussion to create a spooky craft in the makerspace. Books are still available. Stop by the YA desk to pick up your copy!
NaNoWrimo Support Group – Tuesdays, November 9 – December 7 @ 4:00 pm – 5:00 pm | chbMAKERS’ Corner NaNoWriMo stands for National Novel Writing Month, a fun challenge that’s happened every November since 1999. The goal, to write 50,000 words of a novel in thirty days! Thousands of people around the world take the challenge every year. Are you ready to become one of them? If you are, you don’t have to go it alone. We’re here to help! Drop in and join us each week to brainstorm ideas, chat with fellow Wrimos, and support one another. Registration is not required.
Midweek Game Night! – Wednesday, November 10 @ 5:00 pm – 7:45 pm | chbMAKERS’ Corner Calling all tabletop gamers! Are you looking for a place to play? Want to share your love of tabletop with others? Then join us on the second and forth Wednesday of each month for Midweek Game Night! Discover new games, play old favorites, and meet other gaming enthusiasts. Open to teens ages 12 – 19 and adults. Registration is not required.
