C.H. Booth Library is proud to announce an upcoming performance of Words from the Front, a play based on a collection of actual text messages, Facebook messages, and emails exchanged in real time between individuals in the United States, Ukraine, and Russia.
The special event is planned for Saturday, October 7, at 3 pm, in the meeting room of the library, 25 Main Street.
The thought-provoking production is set to captivate audiences with its exploration of the power of communication and the impact of global events on personal lives.
Written by Nancy A. Herman and Lynda Sorensen, both former teachers at Darien High School, Words from the Front delves into the lives of the people directly affected by the war in the Ukraine. Drawing on their rich backgrounds in education, theater, and international exchange, Herman and Sorensen brought a unique perspective to the important and timely subject.
Booth Library Head of Circulation Tom Nolan calls the work “truly extraordinary.”
“I was fortunate to see a performance at the Unitarian Society in Hamden, and was blown away by the power of the story that Nancy and Lynda have created,” Nolan shared. “This is a unique experience that will offer an urgent, and necessary insight into the conflict in Ukraine, one you can’t even get on the news.”
