Local Authors Collection

The Local Authors Collection contains works by past and present Newtown authors and illustrators.  The copies in this collection are for in-library use only, circulating copies may be available.  Please ask at the Reference Desk.

Genealogy

The Genealogy Room houses the Julia Brush Collection of published genealogies and local histories on Newtown and Danbury area families. The genealogy room also has an extensive collection of Connecticut and New England resource material. The room’s aesthetic beauty makes it the perfect place to do research.  Please sign-in and then “dig-in.” We hope you find exactly what you are looking for.

Please call the library at 203-426-4533 for more information about working with our volunteer genealogist, Harlan Jessup. Our genealogy page has details about the collection as well as online resources for genealogists.

Connecticut & Local History Collection

In addition to material in our Genealogy Room, we have both circulating material and reference books on Connecticut history, and individual town histories with an emphasis on Newtown and other communities in Fairfield County. This material includes books on geography, place names, general and photographic histories, and biographical resources.

Autism Resource Center

The Autism Resource Center includes materials for autistic children, their friends and parents, and adults on the autism spectrum. The list of items is available in our catalog: Autism Resource Center.
