Craftastic! – Every Wednesday @ 3:00 pm – 4:30 pm Drop by the chbMAKERS’ Corner after school to get your craft on! Don’t want to craft in the library due to covid? Stop by and grab a kit to take home. There are a limited number of kits available. Kits are first come, first served.

Midweek Game Night! – Every Wednesday @ 5:00 pm – 7:45 pm Calling all tabletop gamers! Are you looking for a place to play? Want to share your love of tabletop with others? Then join us each week for Midweek Game Night! Discover new games, play old favorites, and meet other gaming enthusiasts. Each week we’ll choose a different game to highlight!

  • February 2 – Batman: Rogues Gallery
  • February 9 – Exploding Kittens
  • February 16 – Chess
  • February 23 – Channel A

Open to tweens, teens, families, and adults. Registration is not required.

SPECIAL EVENT! – Introduction to Babysitting With Amanda Lisk – March 5 @ 10:00 am – 1:00 pm. Babysitters have the responsibility of caring for children and making important decisions while they are in charge. Parents entrust their child with the babysitter, therefore, it is crucial that the sitter knows the basics of child care. In this three hour course, participants will learn interviewing tips, communication skills, ages and stages of young babies and toddlers, safety and first aid tips, and feeding and caring for children, including diaper changing. A simple test will be administered at the completion of the course and certificates of completion will be distributed. This course is open for tweens and teens. Participants should bring a pen and some paper, as well as a snack. Space is limited for this course. Registration is required. Click here to register.

SPECIAL EVENT! – LED Zodiac Art with Ingrid Schaeffer – Saturday, March 12 @ 1:00 pm – 2:15 pm. Everyone has a zodiac sign. What’s yours? What does your sign say about you? Join us as Ingrid Schaeffer teaches us about our signs and the constellations that correspond to them. Then, learn how to make your own 3D LED wall light of your zodiac sign! All the materials needed to make your LED art will be provided. This program is open to tweens and teens. Space is limited. Carm’s Classics Club – Thursday, April 21 @ 6:30 pm – 7:30 pm Join us for the next meeting of Carm’s Classics. This meeting we explore the seedy side of Victorian London with Charles Dickens’ Oliver Twist and Terry Pratchett’s Dodger! Carm’s Classics Club is open to tweens, teens, and adults. All participants will receive a copy of both Oliver Twist and Dodger that they may keep. Copies are available for pickup at the Young Adult desk for participants. This is a hybrid program. Shelf Love Book Group – Friday, January 21 @ 4:00 pm – 4:45 pm Shelf Love is a group that meets once a month to discuss books. Which books? Any ones we want! Share titles, discuss ideas, try out new genres, leave reviews… all in an informal club! Fiction, nonfiction, comics, and manga are all welcome. Refreshments will be served. Ages 12 – 18 welcome. Registration is not required.

This meeting we journey into the deep with Jules Verne’s Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea and Rick Riordan’s latest novel, Daughter of the Deep – a modern sequel to Verne’s classic adventure! Carm’s Classics Club is open to tweens, teens, and adults. All participants will receive a copy of both Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea and Daughter of the Deep that they may keep. YAC is a group of teens in grades 6 – 12 who meet once a month to plan programs, choose books, create displays, and work on projects to help the library. Come join us! Refreshments will be served.

Project LIT Like Fire – Sunday, November 7 @ 2:30 pm – 4:00 pm | chbMAKERS’ Corner Are you in grades 6 – 12? Are you looking for some interesting reads to spark conversation? The join us for this month’s Project LIT Like Fire meeting!! This month’s middle grade read is Hide and Seeker by Daka Hermon and the YA read is Ace of Spaces by Faridah Àbíké-Íyímídé. Refreshments will be served. Stay after the discussion to create a spooky craft in the makerspace. Books are still available. Stop by the YA desk to pick up your copy!

NaNoWriMo stands for National Novel Writing Month, a fun challenge that’s happened every November since 1999. The goal, to write 50,000 words of a novel in thirty days! Thousands of people around the world take the challenge every year. Are you ready to become one of them?

If you are, you don’t have to go it alone. We’re here to help! Drop in and join us each week to brainstorm ideas, chat with fellow Wrimos, and support one another. No registration required.

Carm’s Classics Club – ‘The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy’: October 27 @ 4:00 pm – 5:00 pm

Don’t panic! It’s the return of Carm O’Neill Classics Club, an all-ages book discussion group! This month we will be reading and discussing The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy by Douglas Adams (215 pages, published in 1979).

Synopsis: It’s an ordinary Thursday morning for Arthur Dent… until his house gets demolished. The Earth follows shortly after to make way for a new hyperspace express route, and Arthur’s best friend has just announced that he’s an alien. After that, things get much, much worse…

All are welcome. This book is recommended for ages 14 and up. Refreshments will be served. Copies of The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy will be available for pickup at the library’s Young Adult desk for participants. Space is limited. Click to register.
