Autism Awareness Film & Discussion Series
We’ll be showing a series of (mostly) documentaries every other month on the first Thursday, with time afterward for discussion. No need to register, just come to the Meeting Room at the noted time.
October 4th at 6:30: Temple Grandin is a biopic about an autistic woman who has become one of the top scientists in the humane livestock handling industry.
December 6th at 7:00: Swim Team chronicles the struggles and triumphs of three young athletes with autism and shows how a swim team can bring hope to a community.
February 7th at 7:00: Autism in Love follows the stories of four adults with autism spectrum disorders as they search for romantic relationships.
April 4th at 7:00: Life Animated is a coming-of-age story about a boy and his family who overcame challenges by turning Disney animated movies into a language to express love, loss, kinship, and brotherhood.
June 6th at 6:00: Double Feature with snacks. Today’s Man tells the story of Nicky Gottlieb, who has grown from a genius child into a young man who doesn’t quite fit in the world. Sounding the Alarm: how is it we know so little about something so widespread? None of us are more than a family member or friend away from autism.
