On-Line Databases Available From Home And In The Library
The following databases require a valid library card  from the C.H. Booth Library
                   

• A to Z Maps Online: is the worlds largest subscription-based database of proprietary, royalty-free world, continent, country, and state maps. Included in the 4,000+ maps are: political maps, physical maps, outline maps, population maps, precipitation maps, climate maps, and other thematic maps. New maps are added to the collection every month.
• iCONN.org: search thousands of popular and scholarly articles from 1980 to present including Spanish-language articles, newspapers, business information on over 300,000 companies, health and wellness information and much more.      
• Consumer Reports Online: access to the online version of Consumer Reports magazine including overview articles, rating charts, the contents of the print edition and more.
• GaleNet: Literary criticism, biography, and more.
• Global Road Warrior: The ultimate guide to the world. Information for the student, traveler or business person. Global Road Warrior provides country facts, society & culture, money and banking, security briefings, maps, travel essentials, information for the business man and the business woman and much, much more. Reports are downloadable. Additional resources such as contacts for call back services, calling codes, and much more are given.
• Grolier Online: Includes Encyclopedia Americana, Grolier Multimedia Encyclopedia, and Lands and Peoples.
• JobNow: Free database that offers live job search coaching in three sections, Write the Resume, Ace the Interview, and Links and Tips.
• Learning Express: Free interactive practice exams including SAT, GED, ACT, Civil Service Exam, Cosmetology, EMS, Law Enforcement, Real Estate and more. Learning Express also has an online Resume Writer and Computer Software Tutorials. Learn or review these 2003 and 2007/2008 Microsoft Office programs (basic to advanced, PC and Mac) from home, work, or the library:  Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access and Outlook.  If you are new to computers, you will also find tutorials in Windows XP, Vista Business, and Mac OSX Leopard Desktop. Learn rapidly through fully interactive multimedia programs that include sound, animation, and visuals for easy learning.  The tutorials offer self-assessments, quizzes, hands-on practice lab simulations, and interactive video content for better understanding of material.
• RefUSA: Search 14 million U.S. and 1.5 million Canadian businesses by name, type, size, location, etc.  Residential database for 120 million U.S. and 12 million Canadian households is searchable by name or address. Also 855,000 Physicians and Dentists are searchable by name, address, education and more.
• Valueline Investment Survey: a greatly expanded database that now provides reports on over 3,500 companies and 13,000 mutual funds. New features include on-line screening tools, company news and market updates. For access to Valueline from home or outside of the library building click here, you will need to enter your 14-digit Newtown library card barcode number without spaces or hyphens, no password is needed.

• New York Times 1857-2003: search the digitized New York Times archives.

Internet Workstations: Ten computers with free Internet access.

Business/Career Center: Employment and career development resources.

Fax Machine: There is a self-service fax machine for public use on the 3rd Floor. This is for out-going faxes only. The fax machine machine takes credit cards or pre-paid fax cards which are available at the Reference Desk. Fees start at $1.50 for one page sent to a domestic fax machine and go up depending on how many pages are sent and whether it is a domestic or international call.
