Exhibits
The Cyrenius H. Booth Library displays art exhibits in the Olga Knoepke Memorial Room on the first floor of the Library building. The exhibits are open during regular library hours.
Cuurently on display throughout the library: Paula Brinkman has mounted a beautiful collection called “The Pool Books of Paula Brinkman” in the lower level display case. The sketchbooks contain watercolor images painted in Paula’s diary of her experiences in New York exercising in a pool every day. Also shown are her favorite art supplies. Reflections in her books include this quote: “Water holds all of the mystery and all of the answers for me.” Also, a costume from the antique garment collection is displayed on the second floor. It is ball gown worn in 1882 by Mrs. E.A. Hawley, aunt of Mary Hawley. It was a gift from Mirable Crabtree, and considering its age, is in very good condition. On the third floor to the right of the reference desk is an exhibition of rare post mortem photographs, including a very early one from c. 1845. These rare Victorian photos show the 19th century view of death as it developed across the second half of the century. The exhibit, which was designed by Carol Franson-Serra and Dan Cruson will be on view until the end of August.
