The NetLibrary eAudiobook collection contains over 1,800 titles from Recorded Books. The collection includes contemporary fiction and non-fiction as well classic novels. Recorded Books for Young Adults and Children are also available. In addition, it contains the Pimsleur Language Series, a collection of language lessons for beginners, intermediate speakers, and ESL students; the Pimsleur collection covers 39 languages, including Arabic, Chinese (both Cantonese and Mandarin), French, German, Greek, Hebrew, Italian, Japanese, Portuguese, Russian, and Spanish.
How to download an audio book
Important note: This service does not work on the Macintosh platform or with iPods. The vendor is addressing this issue. We apologize for any inconvenience.
Step 1 – Log in
- The link to get started on the CH Booth NetLibrary pages is at the bottom of these instructions.
- Clicking the link will take you to the Remote Patron Authentication page. Enter your CH Booth Library card barcode number for Remote Patron Authentication.
- First time users must then create a personal account on the CHBooth NetLibrary page. Click the “create free account” link and follow directions.
- If you already have a NetLibrary account, enter your user name and password in the Log In box, then click the red LOG IN button.
- Please note: There is additional, detailed Help, including Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs), available from the CHBooth NetLibrary page. Just click on “Help”.
Step 2 – Search for an audiobook
- Enter your author, title or keyword in the BASIC SEARCH field.
- Click SEARCH.
Step 3 – Check out
- From search results, click on DOWNLOAD THIS AUDIOBOOK. Save the file to your PC. You must use Microsoft Windows Media Player, version 9.0 or 10.0, to listen to and/or transfer your audiobook.
- Select a download option:
- CD QUALITY is for use with high-speed Internet access. You must use CD QUALITY if you want to transfer the audiobook from your PC to MP3 player.
- RADIO QUALITY provides fast download speed for users with dial-up connections. You can then listen to your audiobook on your PC.
- NOTE: There is a list of recommended MP3 players (in PDF-format) available on the CHBooth NetLibrary Help pages.
- To download from a PC to a portable device (MP3 player; not downloadable to iPod), follow the Windows Media Player instructions.
- It is possible to listen to your MP3 player in the car or through your stereo/radio with accessory FM transmitters or cassette adapters.
- You can check out up to 10 titles for a three week loan period, renewals are possible. After three weeks you will not be able to access the downloaded files.
